In one of my previous posts - How I got to Sevastopol (Севастополь), Ukraine (Україна) , I told you about how I traveled to Crimean Peninsula and Sevastopol in particular. In this post I'll share with you what I saw for an afternoon in this Black Sea city. Sevastopol region occupies the southwestern part of the Crimean peninsula, bordering on the north-east by Bakhchisaray district, on the south-east - the Bolshaya Yalta and on the west and south by Black sea. There are 4 administrative districts on the territory of Sevastopol region: Balaclava, Gagarin, Lenin, Nahimovskiy. I admit that I was in Jackson Hole, Wyoming ( map ) in the summer and just remember that it was great. Temperatures were low, but this was not a problem because in June is usually very hot, so it was pleasant for me. Due to the high altitude (6200 feet / 1890 m.), Temperatures were between 32 F / 0 C to 75 F / 24 C , so it was warm in the day and cool in the night. And although it was summer, I was lucky enough to see snowfall in one of the days spent there. The exciting scenery, nice and inviting atmosphere in the hotel made me think to go there to ski in the winter. I found, there are many lodging options and services. Airport It was quite difficult to choose how to get to Sevastopol ( Севастополь ) – Ukraine, although the summer season has been already started and except regular flights there are charters also.  Map of Sevastopol. It turned out that the Ukrainian carrier Aerosvit not perform regular flights because there are some financial problems. I forgot to mention that the nearest airport is in the city of Simferopol ( С i мферополь ), which is the administrative center of the Crimean region where  Sevastopol  is located .  Sevastopol - view from the Sevastopol bay Map of   Simferopol   So, I chose to go there by flight via Istanbul, where I spent more than 6 hours at Istanbul Atatürk Airport, waiting for the flight to Simferopol.  Learn ,how I spent one night at Istanbul Atatürk Airport .
