If you are in Sofia and have a free weekend, you love the mountains, and it's hot summer time, you could go very easy   to Maliovitsa in Rila Mountain (map) . The place is about 90 km / 55 miles away from Sofia and by car it takes about an hour and a half driving. My first stop on the route was Samokov through which actually passes the road to the ski resort Borovets  . For an hour I visit two places that worth seeing - The female monastery “Shroud of Holy Mary” ( Samokovski devicheski manastir "Pokrov Bogorodichen" ) (map) and   Mitropolitska church – "The Assumption of the Holy Virgin" ( Mitropolitska Tsurkva “Uspenie na sv. If you would like to go to the Bulgarian seaside and don't want to feel as you are in a concrete jungle - you must go to Krapets.   Here you can read about that small seaside Bulgarian village, situated near the Bulgarian-Romanian border on the Black sea coast.   Fishing Boat on the sea I arrived in Krapets by car and spent four days in early August 2013. The road which comes from Varna (or Romania) is new and well marked. You can not be confused, but be careful because of the heavy traffic. Be especially careful when encountering cars which plates starting with "TX" . These are usually local people who drive quite recklessly.  Krapets I stayed with my family at  Yanitza  hotel.  The complex has two parts hotel Yanitza 1 and Yanitza 2.
