Krapets (Крапец), Bulgaria one of the few pristine places on the Black Sea coast

If you would like to go to the Bulgarian seaside and don't want to feel as you are in a concrete jungle - you must go to Krapets.
Here you can read about that small seaside Bulgarian village, situated near the Bulgarian-Romanian border on the Black sea coast.

I arrived in Krapets by car and spent four days in early August 2013. The road which comes from Varna (or Romania) is new and well marked. You can not be confused, but be careful because of the heavy traffic. Be especially careful when encountering cars which plates starting with "TX". These are usually local people who drive quite recklessly.

I stayed with my family at Yanitza hotel. The complex has two parts hotel Yanitza 1 and Yanitza 2. Yanitza 1 is older and conditions are like in 1 star hotel. It is clean, but furniture is quite old. If it’s possible - choose Yanitza 2. Aside from that little detail, the complex is ideal for families with small children as there is a large garden, children's playground and three swimming pools, one of which is for children. Staff is very friendly and service is good. Check here, to find accomodation in Krapets.
For the restaurant, which is located on the beach, I can say it is the best choice for dining in the village (prices and quality of food).

If you wake up early in the morning, you can buy fresh fish by the fisherman's village, located right next to Yanitza complex.

Other possible places for dinner are two restaurants shown on the map. Of course there are grocery stores and open market where you can buy fruit and vegetables produced locally.

The beach is located about two kilometers from the village. Shortly before you reach it , there is an interesting wooden bar called "Izgrev" that should not be missed especially at night. On the beach there are two small open air bars that offer a great view of the sea and offer sandwiches, french fries, fried fish and drinks at normal prices. I personally tried “mastika” (anise alcoholic drink ) and “tarator” (traditional Bulgarian cold soup) - a very good choice!

The beach is long and 6-7 km long until Durankulak lake, which is lake, with semi-salty water and swamp flora, is surrounded by steppe vegetation. On the narrow strip separating it from the sea is the sand-dune hugging plant life. You can find on the sand many seashells and Rapana shells, and if you are lucky enough you may see some dolphins in the sea. It's clean and unlike many other beaches - not crowded. Water temperature was 25C/77F.

When there is a storm, you can easily understand, why they call it BLACK SEA.

As advantages of this destination I can say that the place is easily accessible from the Varna airport as well from Romania. The tranquility, beautiful wildlife and the great beach are also something increasingly hard to find these days.
Disadvantage is high prices compared to other places on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
