2013/2014 ski season has just started. 

Yes, it was summer till yesterday, and now the new ski season is coming. It will bring us new emotions as many of us will start planning their winter and ski vacations. That's why I decided to share with you my experience with some typical winter vacations destinations. I’ll start publishing posts about popular and non-popular ski-destinations, I know. I’ll write about another one, that I've visit even in the summer, but I know that they are quite good for vacations in the winter also. Typical example for such a place is Malyovitsa in Rila Mountain, and you can read here  about this place, which I visit in August. 
I’ll provide pictures, videos, links and maps for mountain and ski lovers in “My travels”, “Places” and “Gadgets” sections. In this post I'll try to inspire you with some information about the forthcoming ski season.

In US, the ski season is set to open on Sunday, Oct. 13 at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area. It is all going to happen thanks to recent precipitation, low temperatures and snow making upgrades. 

In Europe, there are at least 20 resorts, which are already open and you could go there and have snow fun. You could choose between Austria, Germany, Italy, Norway, Netherlands and Switzerland. If you are fan of ski competitions, there are exactly two weeks to the new 2013/2014 World Cup ski season opening. The alpine skiing World cup will start as usual at Sölden, Austria on 26 October 2013 with Giant slalom competitions. Cross country and Biathlon will follow. For more information about the upcoming ski events, you could check the International Ski Federation and International Biathlon Union sites.

It promises to be very interesting ski season, also because of Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games . The official opening is scheduled for February 07, 2014. The Paralympic games will start a month later. 

It doesn't matter if you are skiing or not , what is important is to enjoy the winter time as like the summer one !
